Today, we are heading to one of Switzerland's most charming little towns, famous for its life-extending lifestyle…
This town, nestled between two turquoise lakes and surrounded by the Alps, is called Interlaken. In fact, the name itself means "the area between the two lakes."
If you're arriving in this town by car, it’s impossible not to hear the rushing sound of the river along the way. As soon as you see the Aare River, I'm sure you'll be eager to reach your destination. As in many Swiss villages and towns, cars are not allowed to enter, so you'll definitely find parking spots at the entrance.

So, what can we do in the Interlaken area?
Firstly, Interlaken is located in the Jungfrau region, so it's a place where you’ll definitely get your fill of fresh air. Jungfrau is the third highest mountain in the Bernese Alps, standing at 4,158 meters. Therefore, hiking in this town, nestled in nature, could be a top choice for you.

You might want to enjoy the unique views of the Alpine villages by taking a boat or steamer on the lakes. Or, if you say "I love adventure," you can go canoeing on its rivers.
You can rent pedal boats and sail on the clear, sparkling waters of the lakes with swans and ducks along with your loved ones. Of course, it's also possible to swim in these pristine lakes, which is one of the best activities to do in the summer…
While walking in the heart of nature, don’t forget to look up at the sky occasionally because you might catch sight of a parachute at any moment. There’s another activity for those seeking adrenaline-filled adventures: paragliding… Personally, I can't say this is an activity I would do 😊, so I would happily step aside and watch the excited expressions of the paragliders.

Since we visited in April and May, we didn’t catch it, but I’ve read that the legendary story of William Tell is performed outdoors in the summer. There’s also the Interlaken Classical Music Festival held in the region. If you happen to be there at the right time, I’m sure listening to music in the midst of this oxygen-rich, lush nature would be an unforgettable experience.

When you visit this town, the enchanting view created by the combination of the snow-capped white Alps, lush green nature, and turquoise-colored lakes will captivate you as well.
If you haven’t read it yet, I recommend you first read my article titled "The Enchanting Villages of the Swiss Alps."
